Since the begining, Solar1 has hosted over 28 teams from all around the world, compiting in the Solar1 Monte Carlo Cup which features 3 Racing Classes:
The Solar1 Monte Carlo Cup 2015, took place from the 9-11 July, and was divided into 3 Racing Classes:
Single crew boats, max length 6m with four standard solar panels limited by a maximum power output of 1750WP.
Single crew boats, max length 8m with no limitation on solar panel power output. Teams are free to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation to the limit.
From Solar1’s technical par tner the Dutch firm Vripack: a new class. As with Formula 1 cars, this is a one-de-sign class but teams can add innovative extras like foils, propellers or larger or lighter batteries to make the difference.
Monaco welcomed not only the race of the future but also a race like no other. A new era of powerboat racing, where teams work hard to produce the best solar boat of their class with top secret innovating designs and technology.
The Solar1 Monte Carlo Cup 2015 created a platform for teams to design and develop new and exciting technology which can in turn be utilised to develop other products and sports in a clean, economical and efficient way.
