Biography: CreeYacht has competed in the Solar Boat Regatta since 2005. Vast experience in hi-tech composites and marine business gives them a big advantage in this competition. Since their first race in 2005, they have been improving and enhancing their designs to push the boundaries in terms of performance and lightweight construction. Now they are excited to test it on the sea.

DUTCH SOLAR BOAT TEAM

Team: DUTCH SOLAR BOAT TEAM

Biography: The foundation of the Dutch Solar Boat was established in early 2013. This foundation had the goal to develop a racing boat powered entirely by solar energy.  The team consists of a group of enthusiastic students and alumni who have been members in Solar Boat teams of their universities. Combining their knowledge they are planning to build a highly innovative boat! Their team members are experienced and hard working. They initially began solar boat racing in 2006 in the first World Cup in the Netherlands and they have also participated in other races and events: Zeeland race (NL) and the 12 hour non-stop solarboat race in Poland.

Dutch Solar Boat Team

Biography: The HAN-solarboat Team is made of 3 groups of 6 students who are a very skilled group of engineering students from the HAN University of Applied Sciences in Arnhem. This team work closely together to development the design and proficiency of the HAN-solarboat. The class-A solar boat is being developed over a period of three semesters. 2014 will be the first racing season for the newly formed team.The first group started in February 2013, doing the initial research and analysis. The second group took the responsibility and designed the several components of the boat. The third group is responsible for the construction of the boat.

Biography:
The VHL-Nordwin Zonnebootteam has been competing since 2008. The team is comprised of students from the Hogeschool VHL University of Applied Science and Nordwin College, with a deep interest in environmental science courses. What is special about this team is that they try to create a vessel in the most sustainable and resourceful way, proving that being sustainable and competitive is possible as they became the Dutch champions and won the “from dawn till dusk” 16 hours endurance race in Poland. The solarboat project is not specifically related to the vocation; all students join out of interest and to show people sustainability is fun and allows them to put their knowledge into practice, gain additional skills and stay in touch with innovative companies.

Biography: With a few races in the Netherlands under their belt, and one in Belgium, there is definitely some experience in their team.  This year UAntwerp  Solar Boat Team’s challenges are a bit steeper, as they have to adapt their boat to be seaworthy. Their aim is to perform better every year, which means the goal for this year is a top 10 spot.

Biography:
SolarTeam Lindenborg started out in September 2012 as an imitative of 4 high school students as part of their school program. The boat, built from scratch by the students themselves, is a full carbon fiber boat weighing in at, an empty weight, of 48 kg. Having only participated in the 2014 DONG Energy Solar Challenge and the 2014 Solar1 Monte Carlo Cup, the team is fairly new but nonetheless very competitive and hoping to achieve an outstanding performanced this next year.

Biography: G.U.T SOLAR started their adventure with solar boats in 2006. Their team consists of students and scientists from Gdansk University of Technology. They focus on creating the boats that are innovative, modern, efficient and what is most important ecological, which has been proved by their numerous success in solarboats races. G.U.T SOLAR keep on developing themselves and improving their solar boats and love new challenges like the Solar1 race, as it motivates them to push their forces to the limit.

Biography: YTU Solar Boat Team was established in 2008 by students of Yildiz Technical University Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, as an YTU SAILOR CLUB. We have 2 solar boats. Our team joined a lot of national and international competition with these boats. YTU Solar Boat Team completed racecourse that is 200 km successfully, in 2014, Dong Energy Solar Challenge. Our vision is that improving ourselves in engineering department and saving our world from environmental pollution by using alternative energy sources. We will not stop to work on behalf engineering and our future.

ANTWERP MARITIME ACADEMY

Team: ANTWERP MARITIME ACADEMY

Biography: Antwerp Maritime academy participated the first time at Frisian Nuon Solar Challenge in 2008 in the A-class: 7th. In 2010 we participated in the open class in the Dong Energy Solar Challenge: 6th. In 2011  we finished 5th in Zeeland. In 2012, 13th and 2014 we went back to the A-class. In 2014 we finished 4th. In 2014 we participated also at the Solar 1 Monte Carlo Cup and finished 4th in the A-class. The speed of our boat increased from 10 to 22 km/hour during those 7 years.

Biography: WUT Solar Boat Team was created by students from Warsaw University of Technology and Warsaw School of Economics. The team was set up in 2013. Since then, students have cooperated to combine specialised technological and business knowledge by putting it into practice. They have created an efficient solar boat using modern technologies, and lightweight constructions to accomplish an innovative project.
All team members are motivated to meet the objectives and take the challenge of entering the internationally prestigious contest, the Solar1 Monte Carlo Cup.
